R'than: Woman commits suicide after being caught in compromising position with lover

An 18-year-old woman allegedly set herself on fire after being seen in a compromising position with a man by her mother in Rajasthan's Bundi district, police said on Monday. A case of rape and abetment to suicide has been registered against the 20-year-old man who fled after the incident happened in Chotraka Kheda village in Gendoli area, they said.

The woman's mother allegedly saw her with the man, who is their neighbour, late night on Sunday. Later, the woman and her mother went to sleep, said Bundi SP Shivraj Meena. Next morning around 5 am, the woman allegedly immolated herself when her mother went out of the house to attend nature's call, the superintendent of police said.

The woman and her neighbour were reportedly in relationship, Meena added. Police teams are trying to nab the suspect and the body was handed over to the family members after post-mortem, Circle Officer Ghanshyam Meena said.
