At least twenty thousand people living in the municipality of Caála, in the province of Angola's Huambo, will benefit from drinking water by 2020, after completing the restructuring of the system to supply the precious liquid.

The fact was announced on December 7 to the new agency in this locality by the director of the water company, Nicolau Sapala, announcing that the work will start in 2019 to recover the system.

At the moment, according to the official, the supply system, built in 2012, benefits just under 1950 people, only in the urban area, a figure well below the population density.

He informed that the restructuring of the system will include the removal of pipes installed in the colonial era, already in an advanced state of degradation, as well as improve the collection pipeline and create a center for treatment of drinking water before reaching consumers.

With inputs from agency.
