Scientific analysis on 255 food items will pave ways how to extract max nutrition

Zambia's capital, Lusaka-based National Food and Nutrition Commission (NFNC) has declared that over 250 food items are to undergo scientific analysis to establish their nutrient content.

The Commission has identified a total number of 255 food items that need to undergo scientific analysis. It has also urged the Zambians to utilize an assortment of diverse foods to help them exploit a wider range of nutrient uptake. The executive director, Musonda Mofu suggested the public to consume at 13 varied food groups in a week.

According to Musonda Mofu, nature has gifted Zambia with a wide range of natural foodstuffs. Hence, he has urged the common people to take advantage and consume the food in their various assortment, as reported by Lusaka Times.

As far as the scientific analysis by NFNC is concerned, the identification is to be accomplished to ensure the nutrient content on those 255 food items. This will further pave the way to ensure how best those can be used to get maximum benefits. He further assured that once the tests are successfully done, the commission will release the information public with the best ways to exploit the nutritional content of foodstuffs identified.

He pointed out that plants like Moringa, Boa Barb fruit, Tamarind (Musika) and other wonder fruits could easily provide adequate nutrition if consumed as supplements, LT noted.
