Democratic Republic of Congo's new President Felix Tshisekedi called in his inaugural address on Thursday for "a reconciled Congo" as he took power from his predecessor Joseph Kabila.

"We want to build a strong Congo, turned toward its development in peace and security -- a Congo for all in which everyone has a place," he said to thousands of cheering supporters.
