Police conducting raids in Erode district after reports of presence of Maoists

Searches were conducted Monday in Erode district following information about the movement of Maoists, police said.

Police searched areas in the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, Burgur and Anthiyur forest areas and also the plains. Superintendent of Police Sakthi Ganesh told reporters that there was no movement of Maoists in the district.

As a precautionary measure strict vigil is being maintained by police in forest and border areas, he added.
