Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny's widow said on Thursday that a court had rejected a lawsuit against the prison where he died because it would have meant disclosing video and other information about the circumstances of his death.

A Navalny ally said earlier on Thursday that a lawsuit brought by his mother alleging her late son had received inadequate medical care at the Arctic penal colony where he died had been rejected because he had not made the complaint himself.

Yulia Navalnaya, Navalny's widow, said on the X social network that she believed the case had been terminated because it would have forced the prison authorities to provide detailed information about what happened on Feb. 16, the day her late husband was reported to have died.
