Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife were each granted R100,000 bail at the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on February 6. Both of them were arrested on February 1 over allegations of money laundering, fraud and contravention of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.

The followers of controversial pastor Shepherd Bushiri started celebrating on Visage Street after knowing that the couple had been granted bail. Lusaka Times reports that he has hired one of the most expensive criminal lawyers Barry Roux as a lead defence attorney. Barry Roux served as the defence advocate in the trial of Oscar Pistorius.

Times Live notes that soon-to-be 36-year old Shepherd Bushiri has denied having any involvement in money laundering, organised crime and fraud. The case has been postponed to May 10.

Self-proclaimed prophet Bushiri has earlier been accused of making unproven claims of curing HIV. He countered that he has never performed a miracle in his life because only Jesus can. The South African country Botswana earlier temporarily put a ban on his entry due to claims of unproven miracles. Now he is free to enter the country at his will.
