Bihar: 6 gets life imprisonment for killing woman

A court here sentenced six persons to life imprisonment on Saturday for killing a woman in Bihar's Jehanabad district 15 years ago. Fast Track Court (II) Sessions Judge Vinay Kumar Sinha found the six persons guilty and also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of them.

The court also found them guilty for injuring another person and imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on each of them. The judge also held them guilty under Arms Act and awarded two years of jail term and Rs 1,000 fine on each of them.

All the sentences will run concurrently, Additional Public Prosecutor Binod Kumar Singh said. Those awarded life term included - Ram Janam Yadav, Bihari Yadav, Kameshwar Yadav, Vijendra Yadav, Bhikhar Yadav and Parmeshwar Yadav. All the convicts are the residents of Khalilpura village under Karpi police station.

As per the FIR lodged by one Dhaneshwar Paswan, the six accused persons had reached his residence on the night of August 31, 2004 and shot at his wife Malti Devi and another villager Ranjit Kumar. Malti Devi succumbed to her injuries during the course of treatment.
