Stray panther tranquilised after creating panic in Jaipur

A panther that strayed into a residential area of Jaipur from Jhalana forest was tranquilised on Friday hours after it had injured two members of a team of experts trying to subdue it. The forest department and police teams were trying to locate and trap the male panther since Thursday but finally spotted it in a house in Greater Kailash colony on Friday morning.

The area was evacuated and later the panther got tranquilised. The two injured persons received treatment and have recovered.

Sudharshan Sharma, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Jaipur, said the panther will be released into the forest after medical examination.
