The local police have arrested 24 secondary and primary school students during a Christmas party in Kenya's Taita Taveta County. The students were discovered drunk and dressed improperly at the riverbank party near Dembwa trading center of Mwatate-Wundanyi Road.
According to Monica Kimani, Mwatate OCPD, the boys and girls were from different schools. They were red-handedly caught while smoking bhang and cigarettes, drinking alcohol, chewing muguka and expressing immoral behaviors. The police said that the officers were tipped by the public.
Monica Kimani said that there were 16 boys and eight girls during the time of arrest. She said that they have taken the students into custody and some of them are from well-off families. According to her, the girls were caught wearing provocative garments, and some of them were captured in compromising situations.
"We cannot allow such behaviour to continue. Parents should ensure they protect their children during school holidays. We are taking the students to court and there will be no compromise," she added.
