Cameroon is going to be devoid of military and security aid provided by the United States. The US government has come to a decision to interrupt several billions the budget for military aid and security support provided to the Central African country.

The US currently intends to terminate over 97 billion FCFA of military aid to Cameroon. This aid includes funds for nine armoured vehicles, cost of radar, training programs for aircraft, delivery of four defender class patrol boats and helicopters C-130. The US has also decided to withdraw the offer for Cameroon to be a candidate to the state partnership program, as reported by Journal du Cameroun.

It is also a planned, funded upgrade of a Cessna aircraft belonging to the Army Rapid Response Battalion (BIR), an elite unit of the Army. The BIR, in particular is accused of human rights violations. The Americans accuse Yaoundé of non-respect of human rights. Lack of progress towards an end-of-crisis solution including many human right abuses are pointed out.
