New Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan Hua Ning has vowed to deepen bilateral relations and further enhance cooperation between the peoples of the two countries.

"While I feel honoured to be the new ambassador, I also feel heavy responsibility on how we can work together to advance the mutual interest and mutual friendship between our two countries," Hua told journalists in Juba on Wednesday. Hua is China's fourth ambassador to South Sudan since the east African country gained independence from Sudan in July 2011.

"I will spare no efforts to promoting the already very good and sound relationship between our two countries and our two peoples," Hua said. He said a September 2018 peace deal aimed at ending South Sudan's ongoing civil war provides hope for stability and prosperity if implemented.

"We hope that peace will finally come to South Sudan," Hua said. "China will always be ready to support the peace process and the efforts made by the South Sudanese people and government." "I hope the South Sudanese people will unite for peace, unite for development," he said, as reported by Xinhua.
