Local BJP leader Vishnuprasad Shukla said Friday that he would have knocked out the teeth of party MLA Sudarshan Gupta, had Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh not been around the corner. Shukla was reacting after Gupta recently called him a history-sheeter.

"Had Gupta spoken against me when there were no elections, I would have knocked out his teeth," Shukla told reporters. "As Gupta is my party's candidate and my son (Congress candidate Sanjay Shukla) is pitted against him from Indore 1 seat, I find it wise to be calm," Shukla added.

MP BJP vice-president Gupta had termed Shukla a history-sheeter at a function and said the BJP made a mistake by giving him Assembly ticket from the district thrice in the past.

With the fight between Gupta and Shukla becoming public, BJP general secretary and sitting MLA from Mhow Kailash Vijayvargiya said, "In excitement, Gupta uttered some wrong words against his big brother (Shukla), our senior leader. "Shukla had been booked under false cases during the Congress rule.

As far as I know, he (Shukla) had never ever slapped someone," Vijayvargiya said. Asked to comment, Gupta said, "Our general secretary has already given a statement. I won't comment on it."
