Congress MLA from Rajasthan's Nagaur Harendra Mirdha on Wednesday claimed that the party will fight unitedly and win the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He paid a one-day visit to Rajasthan's Nagaur and said that the discussions regarding candidate selection and alliance in the Lok Sabha elections are underway.

While addressing a press conference at Circuit House in Nagaur, he assured that any decision the party takes in the future would be revealed. The party leaders of the alliance are considering all the aspects. Adding to this he said, "The party is united." Taking an indirect jibe at prominent leaders in the Congress party who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party recently, he said, "The leaders remaining in Congress are very serious."

He further added that half of the leaders in every party joined after leaving the Congress, adding to which, he said, "We are not going to panic because of that." Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal on Tuesday announced the second list of 43 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in which some prominent names including Kamal Nath's son Nakul Nath, Ashok Gehlot's son Vaibhav Gehlot and Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi have been mentioned.

The names have been announced for Lok Sabha seats in Assam, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Daman and Diu. A total of 12 candidates have been announced from Assam, 10 from Madhya Pradesh, 7 from Gujarat, 10 from Rajasthan, three from Uttarakhand and one from Daman and Diu.

Calling Lok sabha elections "a fight of ideology," he said that the Congress party is going to fight unitedly and register victory. Speaking on Congress' cause to fight, he said that his party contests taking the whole of India along. Hitting out at the BJP, he said, "They are narrow-minded and are contesting elections only in the name of Hindutva."

Meanwhile, Congress leader Sachin Pilot exuded confidence in the names announced by the party for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and stated that the candidates who have a good chance of winning have been given the opportunity. On the announcement of ten congress candidates in Rajasthan's second list, Pilot said that after careful study by the AICC (All India Congress Committee), winning candidates have been fielded from Rajasthan.

Pilot emphasized the Congress' optimism for the upcoming elections, citing instances of sitting Lok Sabha MPs from Haryana and Rajasthan leaving the BJP to join Congress. He mentioned that the main contest, especially in north India, will be between Congress and BJP. (ANI)
