Earl Thomas's status is up in air after he misses practice on Friday

The status of Seattle Seahawks free safety Earl Thomas is up in the air after he missed practice Friday.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll didn't commit regarding whether the veteran defensive back would play in the home opener Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys after Thomas missed practice for the second time this week for personal reasons.

"Yeah, he couldn't work today," Carroll said Friday. Regarding Thomas' playing status, Carroll added, "We'll see how he's doing, make sure he's OK."

The coach did confirm Thomas' absence was not injury-related, stating, "No, he's got some other stuff we're working on."

Just four days before Seattle's opener against the Broncos in Denver, Thomas came back from a holdout. He started that game and Monday night's against the Bears in Chicago, where he played all but one defensive snap.

Thomas did not speak to reporters in Seattle's locker room on Thursday.

The Seahawks did announce that three starters are out for Sunday's game -- linebacker K.J. Wright (knee), receiver Doug Baldwin (knee) and left guard Ethan Pocic (ankle).

Two others are listed as questionable -- center Justin Britt (shoulder) and linebacker Mychal Kendricks (ankle). Bobby Wagner (groin) will play after missing the Bears game.
