Former Ghanian footballer Junior Agogo has died at the age of 40 in a London hospital on Thursday, according to media reports. Agogo suffered a severe stroke in 2015 which left him debilitated.
Fan-favorite Junior Agogo played for Ghana during 2006-09 and his 3 goals in the final stages of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) led the team to a third-place finish in the championship. Agogo retired in 2012 and scored a total of 143 goals during his career, most of which he spent in the UK.
Social media was flooded with tributes for the former Ghanian star player just a few minutes after the news broke out.
Many people thanked him for the memories and remembered him for the important role he played for Ghana in AFCON 2008.
