Cornerback E.J. Gaines agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday. Gaines sat out all of last season after a core muscle injury in August led to his release from the Bills.

The 28-year-old spent the 2017 season in Buffalo after being dealt that summer from the Los Angeles Rams in a trade involving wide receiver Sammy Watkins. Gaines recorded 59 tackles, one interception and three forced fumbles during 11 games with the Bills.

He signed a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns the following year, however two concussions in a three-week span ended his season after just six games. Gaines has collected 198 tackles, four interceptions, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 43 games (38 starts) since being selected by the then-St. Louis Rams in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Gaines was forced to sit out the entire 2015 season because of a Lisfranc injury sustained during training camp that year.
