Infosys and GE Digital team up to accelerate grid transformation for utilities sector

Infosys has joined forces with GE Digital to help accelerate the grid transformation for the utilities sector. The two companies will jointly bring innovative and scalable solutions for the industry, helping grid operators realize a more reliable, resilient, and sustainable grid, the Bengulur-based IT firm said on Tuesday.

"Our collaboration with Infosys will help accelerate the adoption of grid software that bridges these disciplines, equipping the next generation of grid operators with the tools they need to keep the grid stable, resilient, and sustainable. Infosys' clear understanding of GE solutions and strong commitment to leadership will enable significant productivity and service level improvements, along with critical cost efficiencies," Mahesh Sudhakaran, General Manager, GE Digital Grid Software said in a statement.

The partnership combines GE's extensive knowledge and experience in the energy sector and investments in grid equipment and platforms with Infosys' extensive business transformation, system integration, and cutting-edge technology capabilities for efficient electric grid management.

As part of this 360-degree collaboration, Infosys will build a GE Digital Center of Excellence to increase the pool of skilled professionals for GE's GridOS portfolio and introduce best practices to improve service delivery.

Additionally, Infosys will invest in tools to integrate the GE platform and applications into clients' systems and address their specific needs. The company will also bring in cutting-edge digital capabilities in areas including AI, cloud, cybersecurity, and Industrial IoT, to support the digital transformation of utilities.

This partnership builds upon Infosys' 18-year relationship with GE, which has involved working together on innovative technology essential for the energy sector's transition.
