Meta has announced plans to launch a new education product for Quest devices later this year, akin to last year's Meta Quest for Business, which was designed for the workplace.

"The new product is the result of extensive consultation and collaboration with educators, researchers and third-party developers working in the education space around the world," the social networking giant said on Monday.

Using the new education product, teachers, trainers and administrators will be able to access a range of education-specific apps and features, and manage multiple Quest devices simultaneously, without the need for each device in a classroom or training environment to be updated and prepared individually.

Meta said that this capability will significantly reduce the setup time in educational settings, allowing students to start learning immediately with the headsets.

The exact name of this product and its features will be revealed in the coming months. At launch, the product will be available in Quest for Business supported markets to institutions serving learners aged 13 and above.

"We want it to be something that makes it easier for students to learn, apply and practice new skills; feel a sense of presence with teachers and classmates; and to visit places or experience things that would otherwise be impossible. Above all, we want it to help teachers do what they do best: teach," Meta said in a statement.
