The Los Angeles Rams officially activated cornerback Aqib Talib from injured reserve on Friday, clearing the way for him to play Sunday at the Detroit Lions.

Talib was designated to return from IR on Monday -- after missing eight games with an ankle injury that required surgery -- and he practiced without issue during the week. Head coach Sean McVay told reporters Friday that Talib will play, though he might not get a full share of reps.

"He's going to go," McVay said. "As far as how many snaps, we don't know that quite yet, we kind of have an idea, but you can expect him to be ready to go."

"I think I was thinking about it too much the other day," Talib added after Friday's practice. "Felt good today. Today's probably the best it felt."

Talib, 32, helped Los Angeles' defense allow just 36 points in three games before getting hurt midway through the third game. The unit has allowed 30.8 points per game without him, including 127 total in the last three weeks.

The Rams waived wide receiver Nick Williams in a corresponding move.
