According to its Clean Energy Strategy 2050, Dubai wishes to become a world leader in renewable energy and make the Emirate, the city with the smallest carbon footprint in the world.
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in the desert at Seih Al-Dahal some 30 miles south of the city of Dubai, is currently a massive array of solar panels spread over for miles which continues to grow. It is the largest solar park in the world that, in 2016, achieved the lowest prices for solar-powered electricity in the world. At present, it seems like a fitting facility for Dubai, the small Emirate which thrives on accountability and spectacle.
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park will be vital in achieving it. It is crushing world records for a single site based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model with auctions driving down costs.
