With the term of the 16th Lok Sabha coming to an end, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Tuesday hosted a lunch for ministers and leaders of the political parties represented in Parliament.
The lunch was organised for the ministers, Chief Whips and Whips of parties in the Lok Sabha as well as the Rajya Sabha.
Among those who attended the lunch were Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other ministers.
Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, TMC’s Saugat Roy, JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda, NCP’s Supriya Sule and Shiromani Akali Dal’s S S Dhindsa also attended.
The menu at the lunch was vegetarian ‘Laddu-Bafla’, a delicacy of the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh, the state from which the Speaker hails.
The lunch was hosted on the second last day of the ongoing Budget session, which will be the last before the Lok Sabha elections due by May this year. (ANI)
