Final practice for MotoGP's Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin was cancelled on Saturday due to the risk of lightning strikes at the Texas track, with organisers saying qualifying was subject to weather conditions.

Heavy rain at the Circuit of the Americas meant the scheduled third practice sessions for all three classes were washed out.

Fans were told to leave the grandstands and seek shelter from "a dangerous storm with lightning" in the area. The rain later eased and organisers said afternoon track activity was set to resume. (Writing by Alan Baldwin in London, editing by Pritha Sarkar)
