Benin will be providing digital connection to 40 rural localities
The ultimate goal is to achieve full coverage of mobile broadband in the backward rural areas by 2021.
Benin will provide digital connection and facilities to more than 95,000 people in 40 rural localities. It will provide mobile telephone and mobile internet Broadband services for the acceleration of growth in digital services.
The innovative programme of digital inclusion will be carried out by the Ministry of Digital Economy and communication of Government. The project of social inclusion will benefit the localities where the mobile operator did not invest.
The ultimate goal is to achieve full coverage of mobile broadband in the backward rural areas by 2021. The initiative consists of providing subsidized telephone operator service and to give access to effective voice service, data, and value-added services to the localities.
The infrastructure service will allow people in the localities to connect with the rest of the world. These initiatives of the government will provide the localities with opportunities in the digital economy, through this sale of communication credit, mobile phone sales, and repair shops, mobile transfer of money will add to the mobile economy. The revenue generated by the use mobile service in three months' period by the local population is 118, 063 million FCFA.
This project by the government of Benin will also provide opportunities in job creation, it will even help in the agricultural sector as it will improve access of information on farming technique through the use of telephone and digital information.
