A ballistic missile launched earlier from territories in Yemen controlled by the Iran-aligned Houthis struck a Liberian-flagged vessel in the Bab al-Mandab strait, a U.S. defence official said on Friday.
The missile strike caused a fire and the ship's crew were working to put it out, he said, adding the U.S. Navy's Mason destroyer was on its way to assist the vessel.
