Liquid Intelligent Technologies, a pan-African technology group, has announced a Distribution Partner Agreement (DPA) with the Eutelsat Group to bring enterprise-grade Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite services to Africa. This collaboration marks a significant step in expanding connectivity across the continent, leveraging Eutelsat's innovative integrated GEO-LEO infrastructure.

Enhancing Connectivity Across Africa

Ahmed El Beheiry, CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies, highlighted the importance of this collaboration: “Liquid has always been committed to technological innovation in Africa. Our collaboration with Eutelsat signifies a milestone in bringing cutting-edge LEO services to our customers across multiple countries in Africa, empowering them with high-speed solutions and unlocking new possibilities for connectivity.”

Philippe Baudrier, VP Connectivity, Africa at Eutelsat, echoed this sentiment: “We are thrilled to work with Liquid to introduce new connectivity services throughout Africa. Liquid has a proven track record and a longstanding commitment to connect African businesses. Working together and leveraging Eutelsat Group’s innovative LEO services, we can unlock new opportunities for enterprises and communities. We look forward to the positive impacts we can have to help Liquid’s customers flourish, especially in the mining industry in Central Africa.”

Benefits of LEO Satellite Integration

The integration of OneWeb's LEO satellite network into Liquid Dataport's infrastructure offers several key advantages:

Low Latency: LEO satellites provide lower latency compared to traditional GEO satellites, enhancing performance for applications such as cloud computing, video conferencing, and real-time applications.

High Bandwidth: The faster orbital periods and higher bandwidth of LEO satellites ensure more reliable and efficient data transmission.

Expanded Services: Liquid Dataport’s LEO services include enterprise access with Internet breakout and Point-to-Point services, providing versatile and robust solutions for various business needs.

Strategic Expansion and Future Prospects

As OneWeb's network coverage matures, Liquid Dataport plans to systematically expand its services to meet the growing demand for low-latency primary and backup services in remote regions of Africa. This strategic move aligns with the expected surge in new LEO satellite constellations over the next three years, offering agile and cost-effective solutions for entering and expanding markets.

Impact on African Businesses and Communities

The collaboration between Liquid Intelligent Technologies and Eutelsat aims to foster progress and innovation across Africa by:

Empowering Businesses: Providing businesses, particularly in sectors like mining, with reliable and high-speed connectivity to improve operations and drive growth.

Connecting Communities: Enhancing connectivity in remote and underserved areas, thereby supporting social and economic development.

Streamlined Services: Offering customers a one-stop shop for a range of connectivity solutions, simplifying their access to advanced technologies.

This partnership not only enhances the technological landscape of Africa but also sets the stage for further advancements, driving digital transformation and unlocking new opportunities for businesses and communities across the continent.
