Jindal Stainless, India's largest stainless steel manufacturer, has partnered with CJ Darcl Logistics Limited to launch lightweight, eco-friendly stainless steel containers. These containers are made from high-strength JT grade stainless steel and are designed to transform the transportation of goods such as polymers, batteries, and rubber, according to an exchange filing.

Constructed using 2.2 metric tonnes of JT stainless steel supplied by Jindal Stainless, the containers replace conventional carbon steel used in various parts. This switch leads to a significant weight reduction of approximately 500 kilogrammes per container, increasing cargo capacity, improving fuel efficiency, and reducing operational costs.

JT grade stainless steel provides superior safety features such as enhanced impact resistance and fireproofing, extending the containers' lifespan. Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, noted that stainless steel solutions in logistics could pave the way for a greener future. The use of JT grade stainless steel ensures zero contamination since it is an inert metal, promoting sustainability in logistics.

The collaboration aims to create sustainable, cost-effective solutions benefiting both industry and environment. CJ Darcl, with its extensive multimodal logistics network, is set to deploy these containers across various sectors. Pardeep Bansal, President of CJ Darcl Logistics Ltd., emphasized the significance of this development in promoting green logistics in line with India's carbon neutrality goals by 2070.

Jindal Stainless has provided critical technical support for this project, including design collaboration, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and training the fabrication team. Ombre Stainless Pvt. Ltd. also contributed by providing custom stainless steel tubes, enhancing the containers' strength and sustainability.
