Donatella Versace Transitions After Iconic Career at Versace
Donatella Versace steps down as chief creative officer of Versace after nearly 30 years, shifting to a role as chief brand ambassador. Dario Vitale is set to succeed her amidst talks of Prada's potential acquisition of Versace from Capri Holdings for 1.5 billion euros.
Donatella Versace is stepping down as the chief creative officer of her eponymous fashion house, Versace, after nearly three decades. Owner Capri Holdings announced the transition, which will see Dario Vitale—formerly of Miu Miu—take the creative reins.
Versace, 69, will assume the title of chief brand ambassador, a role shift that follows her stewardship of the brand since her brother Gianni's death in 1997. "Carrying on my brother Gianni's legacy was an honor," Versace reflected, expressing optimism for the new era under Vitale.
This leadership transition coincides with rumors of Capri Holdings selling Versace to Prada for an estimated 1.5 billion euros, a move that could significantly impact the luxury fashion landscape.
