In a bid to bolster the dairy sector, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu chaired a pivotal meeting of the animal husbandry department on Thursday. He emphasized establishing dairy cooperative societies statewide, highlighting their potential to enhance dairy production and create job opportunities.

Reviewing the progress on the Dhagwar milk processing plant in Kangra, Sukhu instructed the formation of a monitoring committee. With a capacity of 1.50 lakh litres per day and a Rs 225 crore investment, the plant is slated for completion by June 2026. This development promises significant benefits for local farmers.

The chief minister also announced an increase in milk procurement and support prices, aiming to uplift farmers economically. Future plans include six new milk processing facilities, reinforcing the commitment to rural economic growth. Brand promotion of 'Him-Ghee' and establishment of 'Gau Sadans' underline the state's holistic approach.
