Metro Railway Kolkata is set to bring significant relief to commuters by launching direct services between Jai Hind Bimanbandar (airport) station and Shahid Khudiram station in New Garia starting December 15. This new route eliminates the need for passengers to interchange at Noapara, paving the way for more convenient travel to key locations.
Currently, the Metro operates on two main corridors: the Yellow Line between Jai Hind Bimanbandar and Noapara, and the Blue Line from Dakshineswar to Shahid Khudiram. From mid-December, two direct Metro services will run between the airport and Garia each weekday, during peak morning and evening hours.
This development is part of Metro Railway's experimental initiative to enhance commuter experience, particularly benefiting air travelers. The morning service will start at 9.36 am, while the evening service will leave at 9 pm, according to a Metro Railway spokesperson.
