India's export sector experienced a turbulent March, grappling with global challenges, according to Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal. Official export data, expected by mid-April, will shed light on the true impact, Agrawal revealed, emphasizing the need for patience before drawing conclusions.
Despite the current setbacks, Agrawal remains optimistic about the country's export growth trajectory, asserting that well-trodden paths in trade will persist. To support exporters affected by the West Asian crisis, the government introduced the 'Resilience & Logistic Intervention for Export Promotion' (RELIEF) scheme.
This initiative aims to stabilize export flows and safeguard India's market share during turbulent times, addressing soaring logistics costs and insurance premiums for Gulf-bound shipments. Agrawal detailed these measures at a press conference on March 19, 2026, highlighting coordinated governmental efforts to mitigate conflict-induced issues.
