BHEL successfully commissions 250 MW coal-based thermal power plant in Bihar

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on Thursday announced the successful commissioning of a 250 MW coal-based thermal power plant in Bihar. The unit has been commissioned at the greenfield 4x250 MW Nabinagar Thermal Power Project and is being set up by Bharatiya Rail Bijlee Company Limited (BRBCL), a joint venture of NTPC Limited and the Indian Railways.

This is the third 250 MW unit commissioned by BHEL at Nabinagar TPP and is located at Nabinagar in Aurangabad district of Bihar. The first two units are already under commercial operation and the fourth unit is in an advanced stage of execution.

The company, in a statement, said that the scope of work involved design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of steam turbines, generators and boilers along with associated auxiliaries and electricals, besides controls and instrumentation and electrostatic precipitators. BHEL has a long-standing partnership with NTPC and has supplied approximately 34,000 MW of the coal-based power plants of NTPC and its joints ventures that account for about 75 per cent of NTPC's coal-based installed capacity.
