Skyrocketing Fuel Prices and Metro Impact
Effective Friday, the retail prices for petrol and diesel have risen significantly across four major Metro cities in India: Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai. The increase ranges from Rs 2.83 to Rs 3.29 for petrol and Rs 2.86 to Rs 3.11 for diesel, impacting the economy and consumers.
As of Friday, fuel prices in India's major metropolitan areas have surged, marking a significant increase for consumers at the pump. Petrol prices in Delhi have risen to Rs 97.77 per liter, reflecting a Rs 3.00 hike, while in Kolkata, the price now stands at Rs 108.74 with a Rs 3.29 increase.
Mumbai's petrol rate has climbed to Rs 106.68 per liter, up by Rs 3.14, and Chennai sees a rise to Rs 103.67, an increment of Rs 2.83. Diesel prices have also followed suit, with Delhi experiencing a rise to Rs 90.67 per liter, and Kolkata diesel now priced at Rs 95.13, both marking a Rs 3.11 increase.
The upward trend in fuel prices in Mumbai and Chennai shows diesel at Rs 93.14 and Rs 95.25 per liter respectively, increasing by Rs 3.11 and Rs 2.86. This escalation in fuel costs is poised to impact the economy, influencing everything from transportation costs to daily consumer expenditure.
