Landmark Sanction for NH-66: Goa's Infrastructure Set for Major Boost

The Central government has sanctioned Rs 1,880.11 crore for the four-laning of NH-66 in South Goa, featuring key infrastructure enhancements. The project, a "landmark moment," aims to ease urban congestion, enhance travel efficiency, and spur economic growth. It underscores the Centre's focus on Goa's infrastructure under a "double-engine government."

The Central government has approved a budget of Rs 1,880.11 crore for the four-laning of a significant portion of NH-66 in South Goa, a project heralded as a "landmark moment" by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. This major infrastructure upgrade includes bypasses for the bustling towns of Cuncolim and Balli.

Announced in a post on X, Chief Minister Sawant emphasized the project's potential to alleviate urban congestion, improve daily commutes, and drive economic expansion in the southern region. Gratitude was extended to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for their support.

The development includes a 5.78-km six-lane elevated corridor, a railway overbridge, and enhancements to service roads and pedestrian safety. This effort highlights the Centre's ongoing commitment to Goa's infrastructure, reflecting the "double-engine government" strategy aimed at regional enhancement.
