Mumbai is asserting its dominance in India's data center industry, capturing around half of the nation’s data center capacity. The city benefits from its strategic location with multiple submarine cable landings, coupled with a reliable power supply and robust infrastructure.

A report from Avendus Capital predicts that Mumbai will host 47% of India's additional data center capacity in the coming five years, thanks to its status as a telecom hub and minimal natural disaster threats. Chennai, meanwhile, is securing its place as the second most favored site due to its strategic connectivity and forthcoming submarine cables.

Hyderabad is rapidly transforming into a focal point for colocation facilities and hyperscaler projects, supported by investments from major players like CtrlS, Sify, and CapitaLand. The overall market data displays regional diversification, with notable expansions in Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Pune, and Kolkata, further underscoring India's booming data infrastructure landscape.
