An overnight bus journey in Turkey's Denizli province turned deadly when the vehicle crashed and caught fire, resulting in eight deaths, including a 9-month-old boy, according to local reports.
The Pamukkale Tourism bus was heading from Izmir to Antalya, carrying 38 passengers and three staff members, when it collided with highway barriers. Among the injured were 33 individuals, with the fatalities including the 50-year-old driver and the father of the infant.
Graphic scenes from the aftermath displayed the charred remains of the bus. The incident occurred at 1:40 a.m. local time, coinciding with the end of the Eid al-Adha celebrations, a time known for increased traffic accidents as people travel extensively across the country.
