Celebrating International Potato Day on May 30, McCain Foods introduced its first-ever Spud Report, a comprehensive global study examining consumers' attachment to fries and potatoes. Conducted by Pollara Strategic Insights, the report surveyed over 12,000 respondents from 11 countries, including more than 1,000 individuals from India, to discern evolving snacking trends and consumer behaviors.

The report uncovers India's growing fondness for fries, with 36% of respondents naming them their favorite potato dish. Notably, India ranks among the top three countries globally for late-night fry cravings, with 74% enjoying fries after 10 p.m. Charlie Angelakos, Vice President of Global External Affairs and Sustainability at McCain Foods, remarked, 'The McCain Spud Report highlights how fries transcend mere food. In India, they are woven into social and cultural connections.'

Shreyashi Keshri, Head of Marketing for McCain in India, noted that fries have become integral to family moments and shared joys. The report emphasizes India's creative approach: 38% dip fries in chocolate, with a significant number pairing them with ice cream or milkshakes. Fries also feature in social settings, with 65% willing to share them on a first date, marking a unique cultural behavior. The findings support McCain's commitment to sustainable agriculture through regenerative practices by 2030.
