El Al Israel Airlines has announced the resumption of its nonstop flights between Tel Aviv and San Francisco, beginning October 25. The decision responds to heightened demand for connectivity between the two tech-centric regions.

The airline, identifying this route as strategic, chose the flight number LY49 in tribute to the San Francisco 49ers. 'San Francisco is a pivotal hub for technology and business and has a large Israeli community,' said Shlomi Zafrani, El Al's vice president of commerce and sales.

The route was initially suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This resumption is part of El Al's expansion strategy, which includes acquiring up to 12 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, and marks a significant step in enhancing travel links between Israel and major U.S. cities like New York, Miami, Boston, and Los Angeles.
