West Bengal SSC Gears Up for Fresh Recruitment Following Supreme Court Mandate

West Bengal's School Service Commission (SSC) will soon release a notification for teacher and non-teaching staff recruitment, following a Supreme Court's invalidation of 25,753 prior appointments. The state government has been directed to complete the recruitment by December 31, 2022, ensuring compliance with the court's directives.

The West Bengal School Service Commission is poised to announce a fresh recruitment drive for teachers and non-teaching staff, as mandated by a recent Supreme Court ruling. The court invalidated appointments made in 2016, labeling the SSC's selection process as 'vitiated and tainted'.

In response, the state has been instructed to start a new recruitment process by May 31, with the appointment process to be finalized by December 31. The SSC, in collaboration with the school education department, is refining the draft notification ahead of the government's approval.

Meanwhile, a group of affected staff members plan to protest by 'gheraoing' the education department's headquarters, pressing for their permanent reinstatement. With a complete list of vacancies to be sent imminently, the SSC is preparing for compliance and transparency in the recruitment process.
