Unlocking Potential: Rare Gem Talent School's Hands-On Approach to Dyslexia

In a groundbreaking educational shift, Kenya's Rare Gem Talent School has carved out a unique learning environment specifically tailored for students with dyslexia. Unlike conventional classrooms, this school focuses on a hands-on, multi-sensorial approach to education, engaging students through sights, sounds, and tactile experiences.

Founder Phyllis Munyi, inspired by the challenges faced by her dyslexic son, established the school to accommodate learners often overlooked in traditional settings. Rare Gem has grown significantly since its inception in 2012, now offering specialized education to over 210 students.

Despite substantial improvements in education access in Kenya, students with learning disabilities continue to struggle for equal opportunities. Rare Gem aims to bridge this gap with an adapted curriculum, countering stigma and discrimination while fostering a supportive community.
