Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Wednesday called for greater unity, institutional integrity and youth empowerment, as the Mizo Students' Union (MSU) celebrated its 25th anniversary in Aizawl. Addressing the event, Lalduhoma underscored the critical role of NGOs in Mizoram, cautioning that deviation from organisational goals due to personal interests among leaders can undermine their credibility. He urged the NGOs to remain committed to their founding ideals and act responsibly, particularly in times of political differences. Highlighting the role of student bodies in fostering unity, the chief minister lauded their contribution to strengthening Mizo identity and unity. Lalduhoma also emphasised dialogue over confrontation, noting that while NGOs often function as pressure groups, constructive engagement remains the most effective path. He also said that the state government is planning to introduce the public-private partnership (PPP) model, which will initially begin with church-run schools. The CM also urged NGOs to support government monitoring efforts and ensure accountability in governance. Founded previously in 1981 under the leadership of R Vanlawma, MSU was reconstituted in 2001. The organisation operates 110 branches within and outside Mizoram.
