Sweet Home Season 2: BIBI steps down from her role (plus what’s next?)

Earlier this month, it was confirmed that singer BIBI would make her drama debut with the newest season of the South Korean apocalyptic horror series Sweet Home. As planned, BIBI started working for Sweet Home Season 2, but after finishing her first scene, she stepped down from her role in Sweet Home Season 2 due to her time schedule.

BIBI is replaced by a new actress whose name is yet to be revealed. Sports Seoul reported on September 20, that BBI is no longer a participant in the second season of the k-drama. In response to the report, a representative of Netflix commented, “BIBI was confirmed to star in ‘Sweet Home 2’ and was preparing [for her role], but she canceled her appearance due to timing issues including the filming schedule.” They added, “Currently, another actress has taken on the role and is filming.”

The South Korean series, Sweet Home (Korean: 스위트홈; RR: Seuwiteuhom) is based on a Naverwebtoon of the same name by Kim Carnby and Hwang Young-chan. Sweet Home is produced by Studio Dragon, who made several other, popular K-Dramas such as My Holo Love, Love Alarm, Arthdal Chronicles and Crash Landing on You. Sweet Home Season 2 will continue from the conclusion of the first season.

The story follows Cha Hyun-soo (Song Kang), who leaves his home and moves into an apartment after an unexpected family tragedy. But after a few days he found, the people inside the apartment are trapped by the monsters. Monsters begin trying to wipe out humanity. Cha Hyun-soo and other residents shield themselves inside the building in hopes of surviving as long as they could.

Season 1 ends by showing Cha Hyun-soo’s awakening in the military van. The military decides the survivors will be transferred to a safe camp as well as the infected should surrender. But what will happen to the rest of the people who are locked inside the building? Lee Eun-hyuk (Lee Do-hyun) is buried under the rubble of the apartment block. It is a big question whether he is alive.

As for the release dates of Sweet Home Seasons 2 and 3, as the production for both seasons has already started, fans can see season 2 premiering sometime in early 2023 and season 3 at the end of the same year.
