Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Saturday applauded the Tripura government for setting new milestones in development by reaching out to last-mile communities. He highlighted that the government has secured World Bank funds for tribal development, marking a historic first for the northeastern state.
Speaking at a civic reception in West Tripura district, where he was honored for his new role, Dev Varma noted that the state has seen comprehensive development in areas such as infrastructure and road connectivity since 2018.
Dev Varma, who was previously the deputy chief minister of Tripura, expressed gratitude for his appointment, calling it an honor for both himself and the people of Tripura. He thanked President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for selecting him, a tribal, for the high-profile role in Telangana.
He also stated his intention to serve as an ambassador between Tripura and Telangana, sharing best practices and potentially implementing Tripura's successful bio village-2.0 program in Telangana.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha praised Dev Varma's contributions during his tenure as the deputy chief minister, where he oversaw key departments like finance, power, rural development, and science & technology.
