Streaming giant Prime Video has announced the renewal of its original unscripted series 'The Traitors' for a second season, as unveiled on Wednesday. With filmmaker Karan Johar at the helm as host, and adapted from IDTV’s BAFTA and Emmy award-winning format, the show makes a return following a successful debut.

Originally premiering on June 12, the series is a result of collaboration with All3Media International and production by BBC Studios India Productions. The show engages 20 celebrities from diverse backgrounds in a gripping game of trust and betrayal, as they vie for a substantial cash prize and a prestigious title.

The first season quickly became a nationwide sensation with its intense gameplay and unpredictable plot twists, drawing reactions on social media while being viewed in 88% of India's pin codes. Buoyed by its overwhelming reception, and as Karan Johar highlighted, the show is set to elevate its stakes in the upcoming season.
