The highly anticipated series 'Gandhi,' directed by acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta, is set to provide an in-depth and nuanced depiction of India's journey to independence. With Pratik Gandhi starring as Mahatma Gandhi, the series promises to delve into his personal life and the influential figures who played pivotal roles alongside him.
Much like 'The Crown,' the series is structured into three expansive seasons, offering a comprehensive view from Gandhi's early years in 1888 to the transformative year of 1947. Producer Sameer Nair emphasizes the show's global reach and its potential to deliver a personal angle on Gandhi's life, beyond his iconic status.
The series will make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and draws inspiration from Ramachandra Guha's esteemed books. The first season, titled 'Mohan to Mahatma,' explores Gandhi's formative years and studies in London, portraying his evolution into the revered leader known worldwide.
