The Haridwar Ardh Kumbh Mela, set to be held in 2027, is poised to be a momentous event, matching the splendor of the Purna Kumbh Mela. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami revealed that for the first time, the holy 'Shahi Snan' will be a part of the Ardh Kumbh festivities.
The announcement was made following Dhami's discussions with representatives from all 13 Akharas, or congregations of sadhus and saints, along the Ganga's banks. In total, ten bathing festivals, including three Amrit (royal) baths, have been announced to mirror the grand traditions akin to the Purna Kumbh.
Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of making Uttarakhand a spiritual capital, plans are laid to make the 2027 event historic. The event promises to attract more devotees than previous years, requiring extensive preparations and collaboration with security agencies to ensure the safety of all participants.
