The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is set to grow its own temple trees in a 100-acre plantation dedicated to providing wood for dwajasthambams, the sacred flag masts central to Hindu temples.
TTD chairman BR Naidu announced the initiative, called the Divine Plantation Project, emphasizing its role in sustaining ancient traditions through a homegrown temple tree nursery.
The project will see the cultivation of species like Teak and Indian Kino, prized for their strength and longevity, to create ritualistically sanctified flag masts, reflecting the TTD's mission to blend ecological sustainability with spiritual duties.
