The Delhi High Court has greenlit IRS officer Sameer Wankhede's pursuit of a defamation case against a Netflix show to be relocated to a Mumbai court, asserting that it lacks territorial jurisdiction.
Justice Vikas Mahajan presided over the case, permitting Wankhede to present the suit before a competent court in Mumbai, with parties instructed to appear on February 12. This follows a previous ruling permitting the plaint's transfer as per the Civil Procedure Code.
Wankhede claims defamation through a Netflix series linked to the Aryan Khan drugs case, arguing the portrayal damaged his reputation. The defendants contended the show's fictional nature and Mumbai's rightful jurisdiction led the decision to move proceedings to the City Civil Court.
