Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has addressed the ongoing uproar surrounding comedian Pranit More, advocating for freedom in stand-up comedy but cautioning against breaches of decency that could infringe on others' rights. His comments came after Maharashtra Cyber filed a First Information Report related to offensive content at a Gurugram show.

During a media briefing, Fadnavis reiterated that while the Indian Constitution ensures freedom of expression, it is coupled with responsibilities to prevent misuse. 'The Constitution grants freedom of expression, but also demands safeguards to avoid misuse. Unchecked expression can violate an individual's right to dignified living,' he articulated.

Fadnavis, a self-professed fan of stand-up comedy, highlighted its entertainment value while emphasizing the importance of adhering to societal norms and decency standards. He remarked, 'Stand-up should respect societal boundaries and decency. Breaching these in the name of humor constitutes an injustice.' His views follow Maharashtra Cyber's actions against More and others for distributing offensive and obscene content online related to their comedy acts.
