Bhopal Cabinet Approves Major Irrigation, Cyber Tehsil, and Women's Empowerment Initiatives

In a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Rs 1320.14 crore was approved for the Chitrangi micro irrigation project in Singrauli. Other approvals included staff for the Cyber Tehsil Project, amendments to municipal laws, and new posts for women's empowerment centers across Madhya Pradesh.

In a pivotal cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at Mantralaya, Bhopal, on Tuesday, administrative approval was granted for Rs 1320.14 crore to fund the Chitrangi pressurised micro irrigation project in Singrauli district. This project will irrigate 32,125 hectares, benefiting 142 villages in Chitrangi and Devsar tehsils.

The council also approved staff allocations for the Cyber Tehsil Project. This includes transferring 10 Tehsildar posts, 15 Naib Tehsildar posts, and three Assistant Class-3 category posts. Additionally, two outsourced peons will be appointed. An amendment to extend the period for motions of no confidence from two to three years in the Madhya Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 1961, was also sanctioned.

As part of Mission Shakti, the cabinet greenlit the operation of Women's Empowerment Centers across all state districts until the end of the 15th Finance Commission in 2025-26. These centers will feature a variety of posts including District Mission Coordinator, Gender Specialist, and Financial Literacy Specialist. In total, 364 posts were approved, with the Women and Child Development Department authorized to fill them following prescribed protocols.
